I own a DJ-560T which I assume is similar to the 580. I also have suffered
inter-mod problems. On a WICEN (similar to RACES) exercise, I could not
use our portable 2m repeater because of continuous QRM. No-one else
on the exercise had any problem.
As I am new to the net, I also missed the previous discussion, so would
appreciate hearing of any fixes, cures etc.

Any number of different things could cause this problem. We need a
bit more information. Are all the operating controls in their usual
positions? Could you get a dip in plate current at the expected control
position, and what value did it read? What's the grid drive look like?
What's the operating plate voltage reading? Does a final, or finals have
an unusual glow, or is one not glowing at all? Any unusual smells, obvious
burn marks, etc?

I have heard rumors that Kenwood's TH78A has had problems with its knobs.
Is this true? Are there any other problems with it? If any of you happen
to own one is it one of the better HTs? Do you like it?

I don't know if this is the right group to ask. Please direct me
to the proper group if it is more appropriate.
I'm looking for reference information on SCAs. Perhaps someone
can cite articles in the various radio electronics magazines.
In addition, where would I buy SCA kits? Someone mentioned Graymark
International, Inc. in Santa Ana, CA. Any opinion?
Thanks,
Hom

Marko, make sure the key is 'floating', the output of my key was connected
to earth at one side (as a lot of electronic keyers are) and then SM does
not work. So if you have a mechanical key you should have no problem, if
you have an electronic keyer you could use a small relay to provide SM with
a floating switch. (Try connecting pins 7 and 5 with just a bit of wire
to test the software setup).

******** I disclaim ever having said this **********
1. Open up the DJ F1
2. you will find a red and a blue wire. (they will be the only wires in the
radio. because every thing else is surface mount.)
3.Cut the wires and put it back together.
4. reset the radio (hold function and turn it on.)
That's all there is to it.
******** I swear I never said any of it! ***********
